Vision / Value statement

The “Center for the Theology of Cultural Engagement” exists to bear witness to the holistic gospel message of the triune God’s kingdom and to promote the common good of all through the church. Communion and sacrificial co-existence mark the life of the triune God of holy love, and must also mark the life of the church as this God’s communal and co-missional people poured out in the world. Gospel proclamation in word and deed involves caring for soul and body and the whole of God’s creation as the theater and object of redemption.  The whole creation groans waiting for humanity’s redemption, and the church must speak prophetically the whole gospel of the kingdom for the whole person and community through the whole world.

Directed by Dr. Paul Louis Metzger, the Center exists to advance the theology of cultural engagement paradigm and value system espoused in his work, and to foster a community of God’s people who share this theology of cultural engagement paradigm.
